The Opportunity We're hiring a Senior Lawyer to join our Commercial (Consumer, Health and Tech) practice and work with some of Australia's most exciting businesses - from early-stage startups to established tech companies, healthcare providers and emerging industry leaders. You'll take ownership of a diverse client portfolio, advising on complex commercial matters whilst supervising and mentoring junior lawyers. Your Responsibilities Building and owning client relationships: You'll be the primary point of contact for your clients, acting as their trusted business adviser. Beyond delivering excellent legal work, you'll proactively identify opportunities to add value and help their businesses grow. Advising across diverse industries and practice areas: Your clients will span tech, healthcare, SaaS, fintech, healthtech, NDIS and other cutting edge and emerging sectors. You'll draft, review and negotiate commercial and IT contracts, advise on intellectual property, licensing and partnership arrangements, and provide guidance on regulatory compliance, privacy law and consumer law matters. Developing your team: You'll work with your Practice Leader to manage, mentor and train junior lawyers and graduates, helping them develop their technical skills and commercial judgment. This is a unique opportunity to build management skills early on in your career. Contributing to firm growth: Share your expertise through client articles, webinars and internal training. The Ideal Candidate Solid commercial contracts experience: At least 4 years PQE in private practice or in-house, with demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements. Exposure to tech, healthcare, startups or emerging industries is highly valued. Commercial acumen: You think beyond the legal issues to understand what clients are trying to achieve. You provide practical, business-focused advice that helps clients move forward. Technical breadth: You're comfortable advising across commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, privacy and consumer law. You can navigate ambiguity and learn new areas quickly. Leadership capability: You're ready to manage junior lawyers, own client relationships and take responsibility for complex matters. You're confident making decisions and providing clear direction. Strong prioritisation skills: You manage competing demands effectively, focus on what matters most, and deliver quality work efficiently.
